Ovarian and Tubal Surgery

Ovarian cyst surgery
Large or persistent ovarian cysts, or cysts that are causing symptoms, will usually need to be surgically removed.

Surgery will also normally be recommended if there are concerns that the cyst could be cancerous or could become cancerous.

There are two ways of removing the ovarian cyst – either through laparoscopic or laparotomy approach.

Tubal surgery
Abnormal fallopian tubes, such as hydrosalpinx, may need to be removed if it is causing pain or in preparation for IVF treatment. This is usually performed through laparoscopic approach.
